Learning Life Skills Every Day
Developmental Therapy at RISE Services, Inc. assists adults with developmental disabilities to become more independent and involved in the community. Our staff will assess, treat, and instruct individuals with disabilities in a wide range of activities for daily living. We also create opportunities for our participants to learn and achieve their goals by developing skills for daily living, socialization, self-help, and communication.
We can provide Developmental Therapy in the individual’s home, the community, a center, or in a combination of various locations.
Developmental Therapy is a Medicaid reimbursable service. If individuals wish to receive Developmental Therapy but do not have or qualify for Medicaid, the individual has the option to utilize private pay for these services.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Developmental Therapy is a goal-oriented service that helps you learn and practice the skills you need to be more independent. Unlike some programs that focus only on supervision, Developmental Therapy at RISE uses specific activities to help you grow in areas like communication, self-care, and social skills. We focus on “doing” rather than just “watching,” so you can take an active role in your own progress.
We believe that the best place to learn a skill is in the place where you will actually use it! Our therapy is provided in a variety of settings based on your goals. This includes:
- In-Center: Using our specialized equipment and group activity areas.
- In the Community: Practicing skills like grocery shopping, using a library, or ordering food at a restaurant.
- In-Home: Working on personal care or household tasks in a comfortable, familiar environment.
When you start Developmental Therapy, we create an Individualized Service Plan (ISP). This plan lists the specific things you want to achieve, such as “learning to use a bus schedule” or “improving conversation skills.” Our therapists keep detailed notes on your progress, and we meet with you and your support team regularly to celebrate your wins and update your goals as you master new skills.
