COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT CAREER SERVICES
We start by getting to know you. We talk about what you are good at and what you like to do. This is called a “person-centered” plan. We don’t just find any job; we look for a job that makes you happy and uses your special talents. You and your family help us make this plan so it fits your life.
Your Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) counselor helps you get started. They are part of a state office that helps people with disabilities find work. Once you have a counselor, they tell us how we can best help you. Then, RISE works with you on things like practicing for interviews or trying out different types of work in your town to see what you like.
Yes! When you start a new job, a job coach from RISE can come with you. They will help you learn your new tasks and get to know your boss and co-workers. If your job changes or if you have a hard time at work, your coach is there to help you fix the problem. We stay with you to make sure you feel confident and successful at your job.
