No Child Should be Alone for the Holidays

Through our Treatment Foster Care services, RISE Services Inc. Idaho provides healthy and compassionate home environments where foster children with behavioral and medical needs can safely live. Our Treatment Foster Care families’ support is especially important during the upcoming holidays. We aim to find loving foster families so no child is alone, especially during this time of year. Treatment foster parents do their best to welcome their foster children as important family members by including them in special holiday events and traditions.

No Child Should be Alone for the Holidays

Treatment Foster Care Services in Idaho

When children or teens with behavioral, emotional, or medical needs can no longer safely live with their biological family, our Treatment Foster Care (TFC) parents provide healthy environments in which they can live. This solution offers temporary housing and may lead to successful reunification with their biological parents or permanency through adoption or kinship care. RISE Services, Inc. Idaho TFC parents receive extensive training, case manager support, in-home visits, and access to peer support networks.

Supporting Foster Children During the Holidays

At RISE Services, Inc. Idaho, we encourage TFC parents to incorporate their foster child’s family traditions into their holiday celebrations, whether it’s Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, or other special occasions. Some ideas include:

  • Creating name cards for Thanksgiving dinner together
  • Baking family recipes like pumpkin pie or decorating the Christmas tree
  • Inviting friends or extended family members for a festive dessert
  • Planning outdoor fun, such as sledding or ice skating, with school friends
  • Choosing holiday gifts as a family for those in need

This approach helps foster children feel loved and included, building cherished memories during what can be a difficult time.

Essential Role of TFC Parents Throughout the Year

Treatment Foster Care parents play a crucial role in the healthy development of foster children. Throughout the year, TFC parents love and support foster children and teens in many ways. They create personal spaces in their homes just for them, offer understanding and empathy as they process being away from their parents, and include them in special events, family outings, and seasonal holidays.
